Note that I discovered an interesting phenomenon with this projector- it can only tolerate ONE interconnect between your source and the projector. I tried to use multiple cables between my Yamaha AVR and the ceiling-mounted projector (HDMI cable from the AVR to the wall outlet, HDMI cable from the wall to the ceiling HDMI plate, HDMI cable from the ceiling plate to the projector) and they would NOT work. Only one connector works meaning I had to install a 50-foot HDMI cable that goes from the HDMI out of my AVR directly to the HDMI in of this projector. Perhaps the miniscule voltage drops cause the problem, but even a HDMI booster did not fix it, and I used all HDMI 1.4a compliant cables.

1) This projector is BRIGHT, I upgraded a mitsubishi hd-1000u (1500 lumen) and let me tell you there is a HUGE difference between the two. I'm using it during the day in my family room and at night with the lights on. I'm projecting on a 96" grey screen from about 9 or 10 feet away, using ECO mode on the lamp and the CINEMA 1 (darkest preset mode, if I recall correctly) and the picture quality and brightness leaves nothing to be desired. In fact, it's still just slightly too bright.
2) The projector is big and heavy. Who cares? I don't consider that it's an eye sore, It's white and looks very nice in my family room. It makes a statement that it means business. I hung it with a Peerless PRG-EXC-W Ceiling Mount, which I would also highly recommend; I was able to get good placement even with 11' ceilings in my family room.
3) A lot of people complain about black levels, and I have to say that I did notice that in Cinema 1 Mode, black levels looked better than in the other modes. Colors looked great too, I only had to make minimal adjustments. I'm not a hardcore video snob, but I am very happy with the image quality and the blacks with my setup.
4) Fan noise, not an issue at all. I'm coming from a projector with a whinny color wheel, but at least in my room I have no complaints about the fan noise, if any, from this projector.
5) Like with any device, yes there is probably something better (usually more expensive), figure out what your priority is. For me it was brightness and image quality, I didn't care for 3d or speakers or for spending 2000 on a projector for a slightly improved image.
So in conclusion, I do not regret buying this projector and I'm extremely happy with my purchase. I would have done it a year ago if I knew I was going to be this pleased with the results. For daytime or family room viewing this is a great performer.
I was watching the projected image on my white wall for a couple months and then I finally threw down some money for a nice projector screen (I paid $315 for an elite screens 120" screen here on Amazon). Adding a screen really does make a difference in picture quality and enjoyment.
Through my extensive research I could not find a competing projector in its price range that offered that level of brightness (2,800 Lumens), lens shift, 1080P resolution, and GREAT for gaming as well as home cinema (I played Halo 4 on this with my friends and they were in sheer awe the whole time :-)
I would buy this projector again in a heartbeat. No complaints.
Thanks!

Beautiful high def picture zooms to an amazing 10' wide at a 12' distance...
The lens shift makes it very easy to center the image on the screen........
Pros:
Very bright without looking washed out
Easy setup
Optical lens shift really makes a difference in mounting options
LARGE focus ring allows for very precise focus
Did I mention it's bright?
Plenty of inputs
Cons:
Menu system is a bit confusing
Large heavy unit - this is the largest projector I've owned
Blacks not as deep as other projectors but this is the tradeoff for the brightness

1. Much louder
2. I project it on a 1x gain cine-grey screen yet it still manages to have a hotspot (shiny white area) in the spot where the bulb hits the screen
- granted the hotspot is minute, but this does not occur even slightly with the Epson.
3. The bulb cost is more than 2x the price of the Epson bulb cost.
4. Dynamic Iris is useless. It cant settle on a brightness and constantly causes lighting to be too bright in some spots and then too dim in other spots.
These aspects alone would warrant me giving this projector ~3.75, but then I had my manufacturer rebate cancelled.
This product had a warranty extension and cash rebate on it when I purchased it. I sent it within the required amount of time and all required documentation. When I called the rebate hotline, I was told sorry this was cancelled FOUR WEEKS before the end of the promotion. When I called customer service, the phone rep said I see that this rebate was cancelled by upper management on 2/4/12. The rebate did not even start until 2/6/12!!!! He was just tech support and I dont think realized he was supposed to keep that part to himself. This is very shady business practice. also, at one point one of the lines I was forwarded to was just a fast busy signal.
This is the last time I will be purchasing a Panasonic product. I hope nothing goes wrong with this projector. God forbid I actually need some real help from these people.

And checking many reviews out their
I purchased this projector because of those reasons:
1) Full HD 1080p
2) Supports multiple display resolutions 1080p/24 1080p/60 720p/24 720p/60 ( it's important for video games )
3) 2x zoom
4) Lens V/H shaft
After purchase I realized that:
1) Full HD 1080 is a must don't even think about anything lower at 120-140inch display size you will feel the difference especially for blue ray and games.
2) 2x zoom was very important it helps me to get huge screen size while the projector not behind or outside my home.
3) Lens V/H shaft is not needed if you're going to fix the project on ceiling like I do since it will be fixed on wall.
What I like about this projector:
1) Price in compare to other full hd projectors ( although I purchase before the cut down )
2) Zoom 2x other brands 1-1.5x zoom max which is not enough for large screens at short throw distance
3) Auto Colour calibration depend on room ambient light
4) Still acceptable screen image even with 40-70 % room lighting
I don't like or need improvement on this projector :
1) Black levels need major improvement.
2) Fan noise is high I guess if you are watching silent pictures or viewing your laptop but in movies it's not affecting.
3) Not many auto preloaded Colour calibration presets.
4) Projector size is too much and it's heavy
5) Lamp life 2000-3000HRS?! It's low I believe
Next projector I will make sure to double check:
1) Black level
2) Lamp Life
3) and it's going to be LED
Hope this helps
There's no point of comparison. The old one was nice, but this one is unbelievable. It has several pattern screens (to help with the adjustment), one of them of 4 lines 2 pixels wide, that allows to make a perfect focus and alignment on the wall. Then you can adjust colors, contrast, etc.
The screen diagonal is 137" (347 cmtrs), and looks better than the local cinema. With a dark room, black is black, can see day and night shots as they were meant, and to show off the colors, the Speedracer movie (all of saturated colors) pops out of the screen (figuratively, it is a 2D projector).
It has also some complex menus to adjust the image color, but I haven't looked at them yet.
The one con is that its footprint is gigantic. Is twice the size of the normal projector. But other than that, you get cinema quality in your dark living room. If you use it with some light in the room, still image is great, but I normally don't use that way.
I'll come back with an update when I get used to the color adjustment menus, and the thing is used for a while. But so far the wow factor is huge, everyone that sees it is truly impressed.
