I use this projector as a living room home theater projector. The set up is very flexible. I mounted a basic floating shelf just below the ceiling on the back wall and set the projector right on it. The keystone feature lets you trim the image down to custom fit your screen. It's very easy. you can adjust all four corners individually to square up the image to the screen. It allows you to use all of your screen for the image. The HD image is great too. At 100' I'm not sure I can really tell much difference between 720 and 1080. So I can't offer that level of perspective on the image quality. There are 2 power settings, Normal and Eco. I assume normal uses the full 3000 Lumens and its a bit brighter. But the fan is also a fair bit louder too. It can actually be a distraction unless I'm watching a game or something with a lot of surround sound. But on Eco the fan is barely noticeable.
My LR has a 4'x 10' long window, so there is a lot of ambient light. During the day I have to put up a dark shaded curtain to really see an image worth watching. And I'll use the Normal power mode. At night I switch to eco mode to save the lamp and power and for less noise. And at night with the street and city lights in the background the image is more than fine on Eco.
This is a great projector and very flexible and portable. For a more permanent set-up in a consistently dark room some of the flexible features might be overkill at $1000.

It's very easy to travel with, it actually fits in the same bag as my macbook. The picture is bright and readable in 1400 x 900. I use it primarily for powerpoint and software sales presentations. My clients are always impressed that we are prepared with our own projector. 5.0 out of 5 stars Great Projector, December 30, 2012

We bought this projector for our home entertainment center and it is great. Clear bright colors and excellent detail, no fuzziness that we have experienced with older projectors. 5.0 out of 5 stars Exactly what we were looking for!, November 19, 2012

As a photography instructor teaching in various locations, I had some specific needs: quick setup and tear down, portability, bright lamp and good color fidelity.I have had this projector about a month and so far, I love it.
I don't find the fan noise that bad. It may be an issue if I were to use it to watch a movie in a small room without an amplified sounds system.
I love the ability to connect and project what's displayed on my MacBook Pro wirelessly via WiFi.
Just know when connecting using this WiFi mode, video doesn't play as well and you will need to use an ethernet cable to connect to your router if you want to be connected to the internet.
If you plan to display video, it's best to connect via HDMI or any of the other hard wire connectors: USB, VGA or even RCA.
Features like Quick Corner, Fit the Screen and automatic keystone correction means I don't have to arrive 40 minutes early to setup.
I just wish projector screens today are wider than tall so projectors like this can truly shine.

I just got this thing and it certainly wasn't plug and play. No written manual, you have to download it; I guess that's ok, but for the money I paid I'd like a hard copy please. I'm going to be doing presentations and I'm afraid I will have to shout over the fan. This doesn't sound like a laptop fan, I can HEAR this fan. For the money I paid I feel I got ripped off. There's lots of neat bells and whistles that'll make your life easier, but who cares if you have to shout over the fan. Go figure. I'm disappointed and feel like I just pissed a grand away. 8 of 8 people found the following review helpful

I bought the Epson PowerLite 1776w to install in a client boardroom. The device is mounted on the ceiling through a generic ceiling mount (not included), we were up and running in seconds, the connectivity options include VGA, Wifi, HDMI and USB (the lack of Ethernet is a minus). The setup was quick with any of these. Picture quality was second to none that I have seen despite the small size, Image size, clarity and brightness is off the scale for an institute with more than 20 other projectors from (Sony, Mistubish, Hitachi and Dell), it exceeds them all by milesWhat you will like:
The Quick connect mode allows auto configuration through supplied USB key
Bright and Vibrant; forget about switching off the lights with this projector
Hands off device; The included Remote handles very thing about this projector, keystone, magnification, focus etc, onlything you have to reach the projector to do is to slide the lens cover
Auto Focus and auto setup, the device automatically adjusts every aspect of the display parameter to match the size of the screen including the skew
What you might not like
Inbuilt pointer; you will need a presenter for this
Setup; while the pros would not find it difficult to setup in any mode. The average users would find installing without the quick connect key difficult
Documentation; For a device at this price range there should have been a printed manual
