What Other Items Do Customers Buy After Viewing This Item?
1) Features: while the casio LED projector has a greater lumen of 2500-3000 as compared to the LG and its own patented combination of Led and laser to produce the image, the LG in my view scores over the casio on being newer with features including a direct USB plug-in for playing movies / presentations from a flash drive.
It also has a very nifty remote which controls video playback like that of a dvd player along with built in speakers which are not bad when in a relatively quiet room or conference room and incase you dont have speakers handy to plug in.
The draw back off course is that 700 lumen is not 2500-3000 lumen or more which is needed incase you are in a big room with lots of ambient light. However I used my LG in my basement with a 100Watt bulb on about 10 feet behind a projector screen and the picture was just fine.
2) price , it was about 200$ cheaper than the casio as available online
I ordered the LG online through amazon and had it delivered to a hotel where a friend was staying. The entire process was hassle free and I managed to get my projector.
I am very happy with the LG and hope that it will give me several years of good use
Cheers

(REAL NAME)
I had an Epson 6500UB which is one of the best home theater projectors available. I have no complaints on picture quality of this unit only reliability and Epson. Knowing they had an issue only fixing it enough to get through warranty period. Cost new $2500 warranty 2 years after that you might as well throw it out for it will cost you more to keep it then buy a new one. The new Epson's have been redesigned and hopefully more reliable but I just can't take another $2500 chance with bulbs running $200 plus and lucky to get over 1000 hours. Be a long time before I can trust an Epson product again. Love the picture just can't afford the consequences.
Back to this unit. Colors are fantastic. This is basically a 720P instead of 1080P so detail not as good as the Epson but very very good. Instant on and off no warm up or cool down needed. Much quieter then the Epson. I was worried about the 720P being able to see pixels or (Screen Door Effect)not an issue on a 110 inch picture seating about 11 feet from screen. I was also very worried about RBE rainbow effect that all single chip DLP's suffer from and I am extremely sensitive to them. Glad to report I do see them on occasion but nowhere near as bad as earlier models and can live with them. 700 lums picture not as bright as the 1700 lum Epson but then it was almost to bright on some scenes but 700 lums about right for home theater. For kicks I took unit upstairs and used wall in middle of the day with blinds closed very acceptable picture. You could use in a dimly lit room and be very happy with the PQ. Now being use to Home theater projectors inputs very limited and adjustments to picture very limited but has enough that work very well to get a good quality picture. Color intensity does make things look a little cartoon-ish so you will probably want to tone them down some. Lot like the new LED back lit TV's are out of the box. Black level which I usually am very picky about black being black, is very good but no where near the Epson. However I found to be acceptable for the cost and reliability. Black content comes through as a very very dark gray and comparable to a good plasma set. LG runs contrast very high on this unit but does have a cinema setting which tones everything down to a more movie like mode. You will still want to do some adjusting but much better starting point. Also has a black level control comes set at low and you probably want to keep it there. Blacks I find to be better then most 720P/1080P projectors comparing to a Panny AE 200u it is a tad better. This projector has no lens shift so it must be placed correctly which is a real PITA but ceiling mounting it makes it a little easier. Unit is 1/4 th size of the old Epson and looks a little funny up there with big video cable going to it. Suggest buying with your credit extends 2 year warranty to 4 years (most credit cards check your provider to be sure). I do have concerns about the Texas Instrument DLP chip which seem to fail about 3 to 4 years. I have heard TI will honor their 5 year warranty but you need to fight with manufacturer about installing it. In 4 years something newer better will be out and at only $500 for this machine is a great price. Now it's price is back to $629 to $799 depending where you buy so take that into consideration for value of this unit.
Now as mention by others and if using for text, could be a deal breaker, there is a focus issue. Personally I believe that LG used to small a lens to help keep portability from being an issue. They may have blown it for business use a lot of text usually will be used. I have noticed it focuses very close to the end of the adjustment. The center and most of picture is excellent but on the extreme corners and outside are slightly out of focus. No big deal for watching movies since your eye is mainly on the center of screen and you would very rarely notice this unless you actually looked for it. Coming from the old CRT days this is razor sharp across entire screen. For text though this would leave part of a sentence out of focus and probably drive you bonkers after a while.
Conclusion mostly all people except those very picky and need high end projectors to satisfy their thirst for PQ will be very happy with this unit. I compared it to a $2500 projector and while not as good holds its own and IMO acceptable to all but the pickiest. Price, quality of build, warranty, no lamp issues, full size remote comes with very nice carrying bag, picture quality very good, it can't be beat by any other LED based and a lot of bulb projectors I have seen at least to date. Next month who knows! I hope this helps with your decision. Try to see for yourself first or get it from a dealer where if you aren't happy you can send it back for full refund.
update 3/11/13
I guess these are somewhat like lamp PJ's the picture gets better after some hours. The focus issue is almost completely gone. Extreme bottom is a touch out of focus when using computer but rest of screen extremely sharp and in focus. I'd say about the bottom 1.5 to 2 inches on 55 inch high screen. After doing several different settings on Expert 1 mode this unit has awesome picture. Do note garbage in garbage out with video on this unit. If you put in anything but HD it's not going to look real good at 110 inches. The video processor does a descent job but you are going to run 480 I most of the time it will be ugly. That said very happy with unit use much more then old bulb projector for no fear of lamp failure.
So if you're like me and have never really endeavored into projectors you need to really make sure your expectations are in the right place. If you're a budget LCD owner (Walmart brand), just about anything is going to look better than your television... But if you've been with Sharp, Vizio, LG, Samsung or Sony in the last few years, this projector isn't going to have the pop you might expect from it. Despite being LED, it's based on DLP video technology, this means your image is more likely to look like a film at a movie theater. For most video enthusiast this is what video should really look like and not the ultra filtered bright image you find in most lcd/led sets today.
This projector is a light cannon despite only being 700 lumens... BUT! This does not mean that you should expect to watch anything more than casual television during the day with ambient light, the image is going to be washed out just like that video review showed! And honestly, even a little bit of ambient light can give you similar results to that review. The sound is great for such a tiny projector and truthfully, the sound kicks most television sets sound systems these days - to the curb. But, if you're buying a projector and plan on really building a system around this, you're really going to want to go with a dedicated HT - if not at least a sound bar.
This projector has no special features as far as image positioning, so you need to know that it's going to shoot directly from where it's at. Want a bigger image? Move back. Want a smaller image, move forward. For an idea of how far your projector needs to be for a certain size, head over to projectorcentral who has a automated calculator to help you.
Keystone... Don't. Resolution suffers and it's noticeable.
All the negatives aside, this is a fantastic projector if you go in with the right mindset. The image can look excellent with the right screen and the proper settings. Make sure that ambient light is non-existent if you go to watch a movie. Overall, I'm very pleased with the quality of the image and this product.
I will contact the manufacturer and provide an update if they can resolve the issue in a satisfactory way.
700 lumens is the most for LED PJ in 720p at this time, so you are getting a LED with the most lumens. The others are 500 lumens or 300 lumens.
It has media center built into it, so you can put movies, mp3, docs, pfd's on usb memory stick or usb hard drive and watch your stuff without PC or anything else.
It has a semi short throw so you can get about 80 inch widescreen from 8 feet away, and 100 inch widescreen from 10 feet.
Nice contrast ratio of 15,000:1.
2 year warranty.
6 watts of stereo speakers built in , which puts out a lot of sound for such a tiny unit.
HDMI port and VGA.
Comes with carrying case.
30,000 hours use compared to 3,000-5,000 for regular bulb PJ's.
Vibrant colors and bright picture in dark room.
Now, you do need to have the room dark to use this PJ.
It is 3D ready, and I have tried it and it works, but, I have trouble watching 3D because I get headaches.
I'm not sure I would get this unit if you are really into 3D, you might want to get a PJ with more lumens, now you could move the PJ closer to screen and make smaller brighter image for 3D.
Gaming lag is good, I have no problems playing 360 multiplayer games.
TV shows look good and movies.
This would be good for bedroom or den, living room or porch at night.
Some early production units had some focus issues, but it seems that most new units are in focus.
(REAL NAME)
I installed it on a ceiling mount, and it's 15 feet away to throw the 150 inch image.
(REAL NAME)
I could have dealt with a little focus issue, but this projector came with major focus problems. Had to send it back. On the plus side is that Amazon return policy is fantastic!
The good...
- Brighter
- Handles more file types
- Built-in speakers actually usable
- Extra Audio in through AV ports
- A projector mount in addition to the tripod mount
- Includes a soft case and an accesories bag
The bad...
- Bigger/Heavier
- Still no zoom
The flaws (the reason for the 2 stars deduction)...
- no next or back buttons on the remote for video files (I think only the HS201 has this feature)
- cannot mark certain video files for playback (I think only the HS201 has this feature)
- Contrast is poor, I don't see how it's 15,000:1. When viewing movies, it's hard to see when the scenes are dark. I have played with the settings every way possible. It helps to project only about 60", but not over 80".
Take a 500 sheet stack of copy paper, cut in in half (the short way) and that's how small it is.
When I turned it on I was amazed with the image.
The clarity, the contrast, and the COLORS are all incredible!
Now all I want to watch is Blu-Ray and online HD content....watching regular DVD's on this is like commiting a sin!
Picture quality is incredibly better than the projector I had before, a 480p Infocus 4805.
PROS:
-Amazing High Definition picture (Great at 115")
-LED lamp will never need changed
-Uses only 80 watts
-Colors are AWESOME!
-Very wide range of adjustability (image colors, black levels, contrast etc)
-Small size and light weight
-Easy to set up and use
-Automatic keystone
-Nearly instant turn on/off time (No waiting for the bulb to heat up and cool down)
-700 Lumens (My infocus was rated at 750 lumens but only put out 550. This is much brighter
-Very good built in speakers
Cons:
-External Power supply
-Fan speed a little noisy on brightest setting (not bad but noticeable)
-No zoom on the lens
-Short throw ratio (at 11.5 Feet the image is about 115" diagonal)
So, in closing this projector is amazing. There are a few cons, but the pros far outweigh them. I would buy one again, and I would recommend to friends and family.
UPDATE*****Jan 5th 2013
I noticed while viewing text that the bottom right corner is out of focus with the rest of the image. I fixed it myself, although it took a few hours. The out of focus corner was not noticeable when watching movies, only when viewing text.
Bottom line: We still love the projector...We use it daily for a TV, internet surfing, and movies. The image is awesome, even on a blue painted wall!
Pros
1)Bright
2)Clear
3)Easy setup
4)Good looking
Cons
1)No blue tooth transmitter
2)No TV Tuner
